Fourth Quarter Existing-Home Sales Surge in Most States

Bergen County Real Estate News According to the latest survey by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), total state existing-home sales rose 13.9 percent in the fourth quarter, and are up 27.2 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2008. Existing-home sales increased from the third quarter in 48 states and the District of Columbia, and year-over-year sales were higher in 49 states and D.C., with all but three states having double-digit annual increases. "The surge in home sales was driven by buyers responding strongly to the tax c redit, combined with record low mortgage interest rates," said Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist. In addition, the national median existing single-family home price was 4.1 percent below the fourth quarter of 2008, marking the smallest price decline in more than two years. U.S. Foreclosure Activity Decreases 1 Percent in March Despite 4 Percent Increase in Bank Repossessions

IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/14 -- RealtyTrac® (www.realtytrac.com), the nation's leading source for comprehensive housing data, today released its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report™ for April 2014, which shows foreclosure filings -- default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions -- were reported on 115,830 U.S. properties in April, a 1 percent decrease from the previous month and down 20 percent from April 2013. The report also shows one in every 1,137 U.S. housing units with a foreclosure filing during the month. Despite the decrease in overall foreclosure activity, bank repossessions in April increased 4 percent from the previous month, although they were still down 14 percent from a year ago. I left SYS-CON's offices in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, right on time just before the snow storm closed the airports. These live pictures below show East Saddle River Road through my iPhone on my way to the airport. I'm adding more pictures daily to my "live photo blog" from Cat Cay... This driver in front of me slipped and hit the sidewalk outside Yossi's Deli, at the corner of East Saddle River Road and Lake Street in Montvale, New Jersey. As I arrived in Ft Lauderdale, I met pilot Eric who was waiting to take me to Cat Cay. We took off on a Norman Islanders (BN-2) as soon as I parked my car behind the airport control tower. The Islander is a twin engine, high wing, fixed gear, STOL (short take-off and landing) aircraft. The Islander is operated in remote areas all over the world and has an excellent reputation of being a real work horse.
